FUN Camps 2014 Registration now open!

Dear cherished parents, kids, teens, friends and family of FUN!!

It is with so much pleasure that we open registration for this year and share with you all of the exciting ways that FUN Camps are improving and becoming even more FUN!!!

Registration has been open for less than an hour and spaces are already filling, so have a look through the descriptions and schedules and if there are certain camps that you don't want to miss out on, register for them quickly! And if you have friends you think might want to join, let them know to register soon as well. Friends don't let friends sit on wait-lists!

We hope that you join us for another season of FUN FUN Camp! Check out the info below and our website for what is new and exciting!

WE ARE THRILLED TO PRESENT THE NEW AND IMPROVED FUN CAMPS!!!

... what to expect for 2014?

- the same FUN Camps flavour and feel
- the same high quality environmental and leadership education
- more options for adventure and skill-building (from whale watching to WildPlay visits and rock-climbing)
- diverse themes that allow us to explore sustainability education through a variety of mediums (like art, drama and tinkering!)
- four different tiers of camps to suit your budget
- A leadership-focused program for 13-16 year olds woven into the camps (let them try their hand at leadership, or let them join in the fun of camp!)

For 24 hours, any amount of money you donate to FUN Society will be doubled

Special Issue | #GivingTuesday

Dear Parents of our cherished FUN Campers and FUN Champs, supporters and friends of FUN, and volunteers and staff,

I am writing you to share a unique opportunity that is happening for FUN Society starting in exactly 6 minutes. As the clock turns to midnight, Giving Tuesday begins! This is an event happening all across the globe for the first time this year with a goal of giving more than thanks - simply giving! #GivingTuesday is a campaign to create a global day of giving at the start of the annual holiday season. It celebrates and encourages charitable activities that support non-profit organizations like FUN Society.

For exactly 24 hours, you, as a supporter have a unique opportunity... DOUBLE your donation for free! During GivingTuesday, any money that you donate to FUN Society will be matched by an anonymous donor (to a maximum of $5000)!!

FUN Society is proud to be a part, and for our GivingTuesday campaign we are featuring our amazing FUN Champs program, and more specifically, the amazing FUN Champs themselves. Read all of their amazing stories about the inspiring social change projects that they are creating in their schools and communities. These kids are starting school composts, saving old growth forests, raising awareness about oil tankers, building book-sharing boxes and more. They are as young as 6 and no older than 16. They are blogging about their journeys as they go!

And remember, donations don't need to be huge. Giving at all is great.

$10.00 - can buy materials for a school eco-club to make bird feeders
$20.00 - can buy supplies for a FUN Champs workshop
$50.00 - can purchase gardening tools for the volunteers at the new school garden
$100.00 - can take 60 children on a field trip into an old-growth rainforest
$300.00 - can send a child in need to camp for an entire week (where the seed for FUN Champs is planted)

So, at the start of this holiday season, please consider adding FUN Society to the list of charities you support. Become a monthly donor or show your support with a one-time gift tomorrow. (It will be worth twice its weight...)

FUN Society needs your support to continue offering such high-quality, individualized and hands-on education and mentorship opportunities for youth.

Gift Giving is Shifting

You’ve heard of Black Friday and Cyber Monday? Well here’s a new day in the Holiday Season – a day to give back! #GivingTuesdayCa www.GivingTuesday.ca

FUN Society has joined the movement and our FUN Champs want to give the world a gift! FUN Champs are 6 - 16 year old children giving gifts like community garden, beach clean ups and more! On Giving Tuesday, Dec 3rd, you can help our FUN Champs give their gifts. On our web page, we will have a catalog of all the materials they need for their gifts (wood and nails, gloves and garbage bags, etc).

On Giving Tuesday can you help the FUN Champs give their gift to the world by giving them the materials they need?

Lilah wants to give the world bird boxes!

What can we say, Lilah is a bird brain! She loves birds so much that she wants to be sure her feathered neighbourhoods have warm and safe homes to raise their babies.

Starting Today, we will be featuring each FUN Champ’s gift to the world on our facebook page. We have 16 gifts to share, so check back often! You can also read more about our FUN Champs on our blog.

Join our parties with LUSH Cosmetics!

LUSH has funded the FUN Champs program this year through their Charity Pot program and we are celebrating!

Join us at our parties with LUSH at the Coquitlam Center Nov 23 and on West 4th in Vancouver Nov 24, both are from 2-4pm. There will be free food and FUN games, hope to see you there!
