Maia Green - Founder and Executive Director
Maia founded FUN Society in 2008 as her way to play her part in saving the world! She combined her love of nature, youth, education and travel to create this dynamic and unique organization that is as fun and as crazy as she is! She loves traveling all around the world, experiencing other cultures and finding creative ways to make the world a better place. Maia recently completed her MA in Environmental Education and Communication at Royal Roads University, exploring the intersection of love and power as necessary ingredients for social change. She is now pursuing her teaching certificate at Lakehead University in Thunder Bay, Ontario. Bring on the "Real Canadian Winter"!!
Lucas Ker - Operations Director
Lucas has had a passion for nature ever since he climbed (and fell out of) his first tree at the age of five. Growing up with the rivers of Cowichan Valley, exploring the beaches of the west coast, and climbing the mountains of Alberta fueled his love for this amazing world. Since moving to Victoria, BC, he has found his niche in FUN Society, among the passion of the staff and the excitement of the children in FUN programs. With an MA in Social Sciences, a Bachelors degree in writing and the arts and a background in natural and cultural history he is very excited to be working to help grow and secure FUN Society as a key player in the movement for environmental education. He hopes that through his role with FUN Society he will be helping children experience the same love that he has for getting outside.
